SESEWA was founded in 2009 by Adekunbi Adeoye-Oyelade while studying at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. She knew youth unemployment rates were high and had hoped an internship would equip her with valuable work experience to better qualify her for full-time employment. When she quickly realized that not a lot of companies offered these opportunities,  Adekunbi was determined to fill this gap. Adekunbi became driven by this singular mission—to bridge the daunting gap between school and work.

From its humble beginnings on campus, SESEWA has embarked on an empowering journey. Fueled by a deep belief in the potential of youth, SESEWA has created a platform that empowers them with the skills, experiences, and networks essential for thriving in today’s competitive job market.
